> Dear Sisters and Brothers,
>
> I have some very sad news to share with you.
>
> Michael Ford has been diagnosed with a malignant cancer of the oesophagus. The doctor has indicated to Anne and Michael that it is fast growing and has most likely spread to other areas. The prognosis is that treatment will be palliative rather than curative. While you can imagine that this is devastating news they are both in reasonable spirits and are asking for prayer that the time they have together will be extended without significant disability. Michael has a full scan on Tuesday to determine where else the cancer may have travelled; he is likely to have some radiation therapy to slow the growth of the cancer.
>
> They are hopeful of being present on Saturday 2 July for the Farewell and Laying Up of the Pastoral Staff and while Michael was to play he was relieved when Brenda March (Kadina) was able to substitute for him; I have indicated that they should remain relaxed about that.
>
> Please hold them in your prayers in the way they have requested – for a positive time of palliative care that is life giving. Both Michael and Anne have been wonderful servants of the Diocese of Willochra over many years.
>
> Peace,
